Katie Souther joined the Gardena staff in Fall 2014 and transitioned over to ECMS-Inglewood in 2015. She enjoys getting involved in schools working as a coordinator for the yearbook and the Associate Student Body at her previous school. Her classroom stems around hands-on teaching to aid her students with her curriculum. Her passion is to inspire students to build the world that they want to see.
Outside of school, Katie enjoys exploring new terrain and traveling. She has traveled both in the United States and abroad. During her collegiate years, she was a part of the Semester at Sea program, where she (almost) circumnavigated the globe stopping in four different continents. Her most recent adventure had her traveling up the Pacific Northwest to see the magnificent volcanoes that inspire her teacher.
Her hobbies are reading, watching documentaries, and playing with her rescued cat, Fitz. She is a vegetarian. She enjoys going to see live music and has an eclectic music collection. Katie is passionate about planning vacations because she likes to make the best out of her vacations. She loves experiencing new things, but she also needs to be organized.

My pet cat, Fitz, was named after F. Scott Fitzgerald. He also was one of the three kittens I rescued at my last job. I nursed all of the kittens back to health and out to adopted homes. I have almost circumnavigated the globe in a ship. I studied abroad with Semester at Sea, where I visited 12 countries in the course of a semester. Batman is my favorite superhero because he has no out of this world super power. Everything that he accomplishes, he does it with his own intelligence and physical strength.
